Recycling is about knowing where to find it

October, 14 - 2008

Let’s face it, in many ways we’d all rather recycle our used items than not, it’s just that sometimes it’s impossible to know where to find someone to take our used goodies. So instead, our old TVs, sofas and all the rest of it end up on the street or in landfill. A bit of a bummer really when some of these things can still be worth money.

We’ve seen websites which try to change the cycle with varying degrees of success (hey, you could argue that eBay is the ultimate recycling site) but none as specific as this one, boxcycle.com

It only deals with cardboard boxes which in so many ways is genius. As anyone who’s moved house knows there are only so many boxes available at the local fruit shop and the moving companies, smelling desperation, charge almost as much per box as they do to send some bloke over to pick them up. And then, when you’ve moved, you end up with a pile of packaged air that seems destined for the sidewalk. Well, no more.

Now you simply type in your zip code (yes, USA only, sorry) and find a pile of used boxes near you. Then when you’re done you relist them. Smart stuff.
